introduction
To kick off the second term to animation, we have a new topic as well as a more challenging aspect to animation, the creation of a beautiful story. Term 2 aims to cover narratives and the art of telling a good story as well as applying animation to bring these ideas to life. At this moment my main focus is to explore a range of different ideas developing it, taking my audience into a journey .
Week 1- Brainstorming
At our initial stage we began to brain storm different ideas that we waned to base our project on, instead of following the RSA theme we decided to go with our own personal project, following different social issues that we feel we need to express through animation. At this stage i felt that any idea is a good idea, so we began to brain storm different messages and social themes we could think of; this then lead into different concepts that we could animate.
First concept that sprung to mind was a caveman concept, this idea relates to the theme of survival and the fact that we have to adapt to survive.
Preliminary Story
The caveman is woken up by his, he and the audience are completely unaware that he’s is not in his usual habitat. He is following his normal routine until he opens his door and is shocked to see something new and amazing then we reveal that his is in the modern day 2015. We then follow him as he walks the city and reacts to the scenery. Walking past people who pay no attention to him as he try’s to adapt to their environment. The caveman walks past a car that revs its engine, this startles him as he think that is an animal, so he then throws his spear at it trying to kill it, he slowly approaches the car try’s to bite the side mirrors. After exploring the city, the caveman is amazed at the new things he has seen and returns back to his home in the cave hut, however we then goes 10years into the future and then see that he has completely changed, holding a phone whiles in a bar. The section represents that idea of change and adaptation.
Locations: The aim is for the cavemen to walk past through 3 key locations, in order to establish where he is, these locations will be.
· Central London/big ben/ London eye
· O2/ Ravensbourne
· St Paul’s Cathedral
· Tube

Inner child concept
Final Idea- INNER CHILD
After brainstorming and experimenting with different ideas, we found out that we needed a message to drive our short animation, by having a message, we can know the direction to take it to and the style that would best suit it.
Name: Inner Child
Story line: A man wakes up in the morning, the scene is grey and mellow, lifeless and soundless, and the man rigidly moves and begins to follow his normal day routine, brushing his teeth, having a shower and hen getting to work. At work he feels like a robot, filing papers and typing emails in a clockwork motion, we can see that he scenes of creativity and excitement has been taken away by the constant work load and stress that society created; A system where creativity and inner happiness is irrelevant. However there is a twist as the man is on his way home, he gets to his home and opens the door. As the camera pans around between the doors the miserable adult man transforms into a young child and is runs into the room, the vibrancy of the house. The house has miraculously changed into a child’s play house as the child explores and begins to show his excitement and creativity.

'CHILD PLAY'
The story titled 'Child's Play' is a unique concept that personifies a child's imagination, this is based on the idea that at a young age our beliefs are limitless, we use our imagination to explore the world we live in and to turn the most simplest of things into something amazing. Our story is about a child who is drawn into the scene by mysterious floating orb (his imagination), he anticipates the orb and wonders what it could be,until he gives into the temptation and miraculously sucked into the it; he enters his first story.
Sequence 1- Knowledge and exploration through Reading
A book appears in the scene and as it opens up the falling pages form the buildings in the scene, one of the pages forms the boys who is happily flying his kite.
Sequence 2-Empowerment/Childhood heroes
From entering the city as a bird, the child takes for as a superhero flying through the city, he goes into the sky and weaves through it in excitement. He then notices a cat on the tree needing help and rescues it.
Sequence 3-Ambition and Aspirations
After rescuing the cat, he comes back to the surface, this leads to the next transformation. The cat morphs into a football and the boys clothing changes into a football kit, he moves around kicking the ball and playing ‘keep ups’. He then kicks the ball as it comes directly towards the camera.
Sequence 4- Growth and Exploration
The scene changes and we enter a space shuttle, as the child in in the craft waiting the countdown before liftoff, we see the shuttle liftoff in an amazing flame of colors as it leaves earth and lands on a new planet. The child plants his flag into the ground.
Closing
We go back to the opening sequence, to a blank white background, the orb forms itself back into the scene, it the spits the child out as he lands on the floor. The child smiles and walks off the scene.
