My EXPERIENCE
This unit as a whole really challenged me in many different ways, as i was placed in team with a variety of different skills, this caused allot of hassle in terms of finalising ideas. I enjoyed the process of working in a team, seeing the range of different ideas i could come up with. 2d was not my area, however, i had to work around this and plan a project with my group. I felt that enjoyed this unit because the main focus was narrative, learning how to create a captivating story. Our group dd not follow the RSA brief, this meant that we had to work even more harder to create a story that made scene; as we did not have the audio to follow.
Around the 5th week of the project our group had to split into 2, because there was too many ideas flying around and we felt that both ideas could work well and it would be better off working in 2's. However, i have learnt from this mistake, because this left us less time to create something that could be visually pleasing. However our main focus was the narrative and telling a good story. What enjoyed most about the unit was learning how to tell a capturing a story, creating 2.5D animation using after effects; which is something I've never done before. I felt that 2d allows you more options, in terms of exaggerating the form of a character, without the use of complicates codes and key frames; which is required in 3D.
One thing i am gong the take into the next unit is timing, allowing enough time to produce a piece of work that not only captivates the audience type, planning a clear structure for the team to work through and ensuring that the deadlines are met. The planning process is probably the most important, because it gave my team a clear structure of what we need to work towards. If the group did not slit up, i feel that we would have been able to share the workload and get a better quality of work. To some this whole project up, i would say it has been exciting but a great learning curve.
